Sales and Research Technology is a team that supports the global Sales & Research and Client Services organization for front office daily digital workflows and MIS tools across the Investment Bank. This involves leveraging a wide range of tools that will help sales make decision efficiently, while collecting valuable client intelligence data points (trade, revenue, deal, profitability, clients, contacts, etc.), with a user base of roughly 4,500 staff globally.

As a Software Engineering Lead, we look first and foremost for people who are passionate around solving business problems through innovation & engineering practices. You will be required to apply your depth of knowledge and expertise to all aspects of the software development lifecycle, as well as partner continuously with your many stakeholders daily to stay focused on common goals. You will be working in London (with some flexibility to work remotely), in a predominantly co-located agile team responsible for all aspects of software delivery. You'll work in a collaborative, trusting, thought-provoking environment-one that encourages diversity of thought and creative solutions that are in the best interests of our customers globally.

Required Skillset
  • We work across the full stack so value good all-round technologists who don't define themselves by the language they prefer to code in. The role will be primarily Java (server side) and JavaScript, React (client side) based with some database and web front end work also an expectation
  • Experience developing applications on cloud platforms such as private or public cloud AWS
  • Exposure of asynchronous messaging protocols (IBM MQ, JMS, Kafka)
  • Motivation and enthusiasm to pick up new technologies as required
  • Ability to drive and lead complex technical deliveries
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas to a non-technical audience
  • Analytical, evidence-based approach to solving problems
  • Knowledge of agile software development methodologies such as Scrum
  • Commitment to building a culture of building high quality, robust, maintainable software

Preferred skills/experience:
  • Motivation and enthusiasm to pick up new technologies as required
  • Knowledge of Search API's using Elastic Search, GraphQL is a plus
  • Understanding of software skills such as business analysis, development, maintenance, and software improvement
  • Ability to drive and lead complex technical deliveries
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas to a non-technical audience
